Curriculum Overview

 main focus of health is to provide students with a strong foundation to build a healthy lifestyle.  The curriculum includes areas of study such as wellness, integrated skills, character development, tobacco, alcohol and drugs.  The class will discuss issues that will help you to develop and share your personal values.

** Family Life and Human Sexuality (permission forms are to be completed prior to content being taught)

By 8th grade all students will learn the physical, emotional, and social aspects of human relationships and sexuality. As a result, they will apply these concepts to support a healthy, active life style.

1. Discuss the impact of early sexual activity on physical, emotional, and social health.

2.Develop strategies to support sexual abstinence, compare and contrast methods of contraception used to reduce the risk of sexually transmitted diseases, HIV, and unintended pregnancy.

3. Analyze sexual messages, images, and stereotypes presented in the media, and discuss their impact on sexual behavior 

The Bellmawr Family Life and Human Sexuality Curriculum is based on the New Jersey Core Curriculum Standards. The content is designed to be developmentally appropriate for each grade level.
