Dress Code Regulations

Pupil Dress and Grooming

All pupils must come to school dressed in neat, clean clothing which is serviceable, practical and appropriate fitting for everyday activities of a classroom. Pupils who attend school in attire or accessories which create a distraction or are inappropriate will not be permitted to attend class. Parents will be called to bring proper school attire. The administration reserves the right to make a judgment as to the acceptability of specific attire in individual cases.


Appropriate Attire for Girls

1. Any type of dress, skirt, or slacks of an appropriate length (mid thigh or longer);

2. Sweaters, blouses or flannel shirts with appropriate neckline reaching the waist (not exposing bare midriff);

3. Culottes and scooter skirts of appropriate length (mid thigh or longer);

4. Mesh shirts if worn over another shirt of an appropriate length (no tank tops);

5. Sandals may be worn with or without stockings or socks if secured to the foot with straps on the front and back of the sandal and foot.

6. Footwear is required at all times. Shoe laces must be tied for safety purposes. Footwear must be secured to foot, ie: no slip on shoes or slippers

7. Turtle neck and mock turtle neck attire;

8. Jeans, jogging suits, jogging pants, sweat suits, sweat pants;

9. Knee length, bermuda or walking shorts of appropriate length (mid thigh or longer);
10. Spandex clothing if worn under other appropriate attire.

11. Skirts, shorts, skorts, and tops must properly cover a pupil's body. Tops must fully cover the chest, shoulder, and midriff area. Tank tops and spaghetti straps are not permitted. The length of the shorts must be below the fingertips.

12. Slacks/jeans must be worn at the waist.


Prohibited Attire for Girls

1. Cutoff shirts, cutoff shorts, or tank tops;

2. Short skirts, mini skirts

3. Hats or curlers may not be worn in the building at any time (unless part of a school sponsored activity or special school event);

4. Attire with inappropriate illustrations or writing;

5. Flip flops and similar sandals are not permitted - appropriate footwear must be worn.

6. Jewelry, accessories, etc. must be worn appropriately and at respectable length.

7. No pajamas;

8. No sneaker skates (“heelies”);

9. No torn jeans;

10. No facial piercings other than ears, i.e. eyebrow, nose, tongue, neck, chin, etc;

11. No earrings larger than a quarter in size or longer than 2" in length from lobe;

12. If yoga pants are worn, a tunic must come to the top of the thigh;

13. Bra straps/undergarments must not be visible;

14. No bare midriff at any time;

15. Shorts prohibited from October 1st to May 1st;

16. For elementary school children, heels no higher than 1".



Appropriate Attire for Boys

1. Dress shirts, sport shirts, crew neck shirts, turtle neck or mock turtleneck 
attire, flannel shirts;

2. Sweaters of any type including turtle necks and mock turtle necks of 
appropriate length;

3. Jeans, slacks, jogging suits and pants, sweat suits, sweat pants worn at 
waist;

4. Sandals may be worn with or without socks if secured to the foot with 
straps on the front and back of the sandal and foot.

5. Mesh shirts if worn over another shirt of an appropriate length (no tank 
tops);

6. T-Shirts with sleeves;

7. Footwear is required at all times. Shoe laces must be tied for safety 
purposes.

8. Knee length, bermuda or walking shorts of appropriate length (mid thigh 
or longer);

9. Spandex clothing if worn under other appropriate attire;

10. Shorts and tops must properly cover a pupil's body. Tops must fully cover 
chest, shoulder, and midriff area.

2. Flip-flops and similar sandals not permitted - appropriate footwear must be worn.
