My name is Rosemary Sarlay. I am a Special Education teacher starting my 8th year at Bell Oaks Upper Elementary School. I teach 5th-8th grade Science, Social Studies, Language Arts, and Math.
I am Highly Qualified in Middle School Math, Science, Language Arts, and Social Studies. I am a certified Teacher of Students with Disabilities, in addition to being certified in Elementary Education K-5. I earned a Bachelor Degree in Elementary Education, as well as Geography, at Rowan University graduating with Summa Cum Laude Honors.
I live in Mays Landing, NJ. I am a proud mother to Joshua (27), Nicholas (25), Connor (21), and Kyle (19). In my free time I like to go to the beach, read, take copious amounts of pictures, and bake (everything unhealthy). Teaching is a second career after being a stay at home mother, and I feel profoundly fortunate to be able to teach, and hopefully inspire my students.
My educational philosophy is simple. I believe that the "same is not equal," and that all students deserve to be taught in an environment that instills self discovery and awareness. Not every student learns the same way, therefore my approach to teaching must be as varied as the personalities and needs of the students I strive to educate. Tolerance, patience, understanding, and respect create an atmosphere where children can learn to their fullest potential.
