Letter to Parents

Welcome Bell Oaks parents, guardians, and family members – we look forward to a successful 2017-18 school year!

The Bell Oaks Upper Elementary School has a staff of dedicated educators who are committed to educating the whole student through an environment that promotes an open line of communication with the entire school community. The commitment of each of the staff members involves the goal of making each child’s experience challenging, safe, enjoyable and well rounded. At the Bell Oaks Upper Elementary School academic and physical needs go hand in hand with each student’s self-esteem and confidence.

Our focus on the academic development of our students can be seen in the day to day activities that take place at our site. Some of our new instructional initiatives include, but are not limited to the following: One to One Laptop initiative now in place for all of our students, Ipads in several classrooms, College campus visits available for all grade eight students, newer ELA programs on all grade levels as well as the Go Math initiative in grade five, the remedial reading program Read 180, continued focus on differentiated and small group instruction, curriculum revisions for all subjects in line with the new Common Core Standards, a response to intervention program during the regular school day schedule that will focus on individualized instruction and Independent Reading, the Character Counts/6 Pillars program along with our Goals program, and the continuation of high quality professional development for our staff! We also welcome upgrades to our cafeteria offerings, the Student Input Committee, the continuation of our service curriculum on all grade levels, and video announcements every morning!

We encourage all students to get involved in the multitude of extracurricular activities that are available. There are opportunities for every child to become part of some club, sport or group that functions either before or after school.

The Bell Oaks School will continue to strive to give our students the best education possible – and we encourage all parents and community members to become involved in our school community! If you have any questions or concerns throughout the school year, please do not hesitate to contact our office.
